Bledsoe drops out of 2022 City Council race; Hale to vacate seat soon

Bruce Bledsoe, City Councilor for Ward 5, has decided not to run for reelection in 2022, the Creek County Election Board has confirmed to Sapulpa Times.

Bledsoe, 62, had filed to run for reelection earlier in December but has since decided against running, for reasons unknown. Bledsoe could not be reached for comment before publication.

The Ward 5 seat will now fall to one of the two remaining candidates, Dena Shobe, 54, and David Mortazavi, 50. Bledsoe is the second of two candidates to leave the race after Ward 1 candidate Kaleb Hoosier was removed from the ballot by the Creek County Election board.

First-term City Councilor Joseph Hale will be vacating his seat soon, as a repercussion of moving out of Sapulpa City Limits. The news was made public at Monday night’s Study Session meeting and confirmed after the City Council meeting later that evening. Hale’s seat will be filled by appointment, not election, until the expiration of his term in 2024.
